Hide & Seek

Brand Identity ⋆ Storytelling ⋆ Illustration ⋆ UI

Year: 2022
Organisation: QUT
Blurb: Hide & Seek is a narrative-driven brand identity and social campaign hybrid, spanning across both physical and digital touch-points, born from the idea that no one’s creative journey should be a lonely one.

The Brief & The Goal

For this project, I strove to develop a design solution which enlightened, united and empowered budding creatives to take that brave first step in sharing their art with the world. Being a budding creative myself, especially one from a more marginalised background, I understand how daunting it is to put oneself out there. Self-doubt; self-trivialisation; imposter syndrome; all of these barriers not only make our artistic journeys feel immensely isolating, but they keep many of us from showcasing our creativity and sharing our stories with our communities despite our innate desire to do so. Hence, I wanted to create something that destigmatised and combatted these fears to uplift creatives.

The Idea & The Magic

The final project consisted of a comprehensive brand experience including a comic series, digital hub and a collection of branded merchandise. In harmony with the messages this project champions, the brand identity is loud, playful, tender and unapologetic for being all of those things at once. The comic series comprises of four episodes, each covering a different frustrating facet of being an artist to normalise the struggles all creatives face. They are short, sharp and packed full of heart to resonate quickly yet deeply with the audience. The digital hub was designed to be a safe space for its prospective users to ‘come out of their shells’ and contains bespoke features which cater to building creative confidence and community connection. Lastly, each piece of branded collateral was specifically designed to serve as a tangible reminder of the abundant inner magic every artist possesses and the community of creatives on this journey alongside them.
